Did you know that Google makes 12 cents every time you search?

According to BBC News, Google makes 12 cents every time you place a search using their search engine. Considering that over 27 billion searches were performed in January of 2006, that’s a lot of money. If my math is correct, which it usually isn’t (which explains my F in algebra last semester), they made $32,400,000 in the month of January from searches. I’m not sure if this can be classified as technology news, persay, but definitely something to know.

Mozilla also gets paid by Google every time you search through the box in the top-right corner of Firefox.

Good question, Will. Probably sponsors or advertisers. I really have no idea.

The ads above and to the side of every search result list you see, ads from AdSense, ads in Gmail, WiFi ads, Blogger ads, Google Video purchases, Google-made servers, Google Earth Pro, Google Answers…
