Introducing the MacBook

17 05 2006

Today, Apple unveiled the MacBook, completing the PowerPC to Intel transition, with the exception of the PowerMac which we are still waiting for.

Sporting either a 1.83 or 2.0 GHz Intel Core Duo processor, the MacBooks are available in both black and white. They feature a built in iSight camera, and a glossy (ohh :D ) 13.3 inch widescreen display. The MacBooks also include built in Wi-Fi and bluetooth. They weigh 5.2 pounds.

Unfortunatley, the black MacBook is $150 more than the white one, and is only available as the high-end model. I personally love the black iPod nanos (and I regret getting a white one), but I’m not so sure how it would look on a MacBook.

One of the most comforting points of buying a MacBook as a switcher from PCs is that you can now natively install Windows XP at your own will if that is still what you prefer, using Boot Camp.

The MacBook starts at $1099 and is available online at the Apple Store and at most retail locations.
