Hi everyone,

Following up from my post on World of Warcraft: Cataclysm being announced, I thought I’d expand on some of the new guild features.

In this post, I’ll specifically be touching on the subject of Guild Leveling and Talent Points.

Guilds will level up similar to the way players do, and will be able to reach a max guild level of 20. The levels will be granted by obtaining a certain amount of Guild Experience, some of the ways to obtain this are;

  • A member of the guild gaining a level
  • A member of the guild gaining a reputation rank
  • The guild slaying a boss in a party or raid – at least 75% of the party or raid must be made up of guild members
  • A member of the guild winning a battleground, or rated arena match
  • A member of the guild gaining a new profession rank (master/grandmaster etc)

For each Guild Level gained, the guild will be awarded a Guild Talent Point.

Guild talent points are an exciting new feature, and while we don’t yet know what each and every one of them will be, a few of them have been announced;

  • PENNY PINCHER – Reduces all repair costs
  • EVERYBODYS FRIEND – Removes the reagent requirement for raid wide buff spells
  • MASS RESSURECTION – As the name suggests, this will allow you to ressurect the entire raid with 1 cast
  • RAID SUMMON – This feature will allow you to summon your entire raid to you, instantly

While the features above have been confirmed, their exact workings have yet to be released – will Mass Ressurection and Raid Summon only work for guild members within your raid group, or will it work for the entire raid group, even PuG’d members? This is yet to be confirmed, and I’ll be sure to keep you updated.

It has also been confirmed that the talents available will appeal to all types of guilds – not just raiding guilds;

There will be leveling oriented talents for leveling guilds, PVP talents for PVP guilds, and of course, raiding talents for raiding guilds.

I can also confirm that you WILL be able to respec your Guild Talents, this will be done using Guild Currency which I will go into in another post.

I hope you are all as excited as I am about World of Warcraft: Cataclysm and what it will bring to the game!
