Windows Live OneCare

Windows OneCare, the all in one security program for Windows XP, has been released out of beta and renamed to Windows Live OneCare, following Microsofts trend of adding Live to all of their next generation products.

Introducing Windows Live OneCare, the new all-in-one, always-on PC care service from Microsoft. It works quietly in the background on your computer, so you don’t have to worry about nasty interruptions from viruses, spyware, hackers, and other unwanted intruders. It also goes beyond security, regularly backing up all your important files and cleaning up and tuning up your PC to help keep it running at More >

Introducing the MacBook

Today, Apple unveiled the MacBook, completing the PowerPC to Intel transition, with the exception of the PowerMac which we are still waiting for.

Sporting either a 1.83 or 2.0 GHz Intel Core Duo processor, the MacBooks are available in both black and white. They feature a built in iSight camera, and a glossy (ohh ) 13.3 inch widescreen display. The MacBooks also include built in Wi-Fi and bluetooth. They weigh 5.2 pounds.

Unfortunatley, the black MacBook is $150 more than the white one, and is only available as the high-end model. I personally love the black iPod nanos (and I regret getting More >

Choose Intel Mac boot drive via remote control

macsupport.ca had posted a tip on their website that tells you how to select your boot device on your Mac using the included remote control. I personally find this rather pointless, seeing as you must get up, turn it on, get the remote, and go back to where you want to choose it, but it’s still cool being able to do it via the remote control.

To select your Mac boot drive with the Apple Remote simply press the remotes “Menu” button just after you hear the startup chime of your Mac. Then when the startup drive selections appear use the “forward/backward” More >

See the World Through the Eyes of a Baby

A group of visual researchers have came up with a way to see images the way that babys see them the first few weeks of their life.

In the first few months of life your child sees the world very differently to you. For the first time ever, using the Tiny Eyes engine, you can see the world through their eyes!

Called TinyEyes, it shows the clear progression of vision’s improvement through the first few weeks of life.

OSX Tip: The Secret Screen Capture Shortcut

One of the coolest OSX shortcuts I’ve found over my searches is definitely Command-Shift-4. By pressing this combination of keys, an your cursor will turn into an arrow which allows you to take a screenshot of just the area you selected with the arrow. See the image for more information. I just tried it out, it’s pretty neat!

Concerning the lack of recent posts, I have been extremely busy with final exams this year and other important aspects of my life. Another recent problem is finding good content to post. Either way, I think I’m fully back to my normal posting schedule More >

Download Music From MyBloop.com For Free

A user on Digg had posted a method to get music from MyBloop.com for free. MyBloop.com allows users to have unlimited storage for their files and music. This workaround to get music from their servers will not last long because it should be considered a bug, so take advantage of it while you can!

The original method that they posted made you sift through source code looking for filenames, but I have found an easier way to do it and have posted it here:

Do a search for a file or MP3.

A list of matching files will now be displayed. Once you More >

Awesome 1000 song iPod phone hack

Over at tuaw, I read about a hack for iTunes Phones that enables you to up the song limit to 500, and thougt that some of you with these phones would be interested in hearing about it.

In order to do this, you only need a few things. You’ll need a Windows PC (or Bootcamp on your mac) because this is a windows-only hack. Second, your going to (obviously) need a way to transfer the hack to your mobile device, such as a USB cable, or bluetooth, if supported. Now, obviously, this is an unofficial hack (hence the word hack) so More >

8GB and 10GB Nanos coming this summer!

It appears that this summer, Apple will be releasing two new versions of their iPod nano, one with 8GB storage and one with 10GB storage.

Munster’s reasoning is that, as the touchscreen iPod will likely not now appear until next year, Apple needs to launch something eye-catching in time for the lucrative run-up to Christmas – and bigger capacity nanos fit the bill nicely.

Sounds exciting, but something I don’t understand is, if the Nanos use flash emory, how can you possibly fit 8 or 10 GB’s in flash? This definitely isn’t my area of expertise..
